Privacy
This site collects as little as it can. Here is what happens to the details you give us, who handles them, and what your rights are.
Who we are
East Coast Creative, trading as Hold The Horizon, 152 The Avenue, Lowestoft, Suffolk, NR33 7LW, is the data controller for anything collected through this site. Questions about this notice, and any request about your data, go to anne-marie@holdthehorizon.com.
When you order
Payment is taken by Stripe on its own secure checkout page. There Stripe collects your name, email address, delivery address, phone number, card details and what you have bought. We never see your card details. Stripe passes us the rest so that we can fulfil your order and contact you about it, and emails you a receipt.
To print and post your order we pass your name, delivery address, email address and phone number to our printer, Prodigi, in the UK. Prodigi uses them only to make and deliver your prints.
We do this because it is necessary to carry out the contract you make with us when you order. You have to give us these details to buy a print; without them we cannot take payment or deliver it.
If an order fails to reach the printer, the site emails us an alert through Resend so that we can place the order by hand. The alert contains the order details. We do this in our legitimate interest in making sure every paid order is fulfilled.
When you contact us
If you email us, we keep your email and our reply for as long as we need them to deal with what you asked about, and use them for nothing else.
When you visit
The site is hosted by Vercel. We count visits with Vercel Web Analytics, which uses no cookies, stores no personal data and does not identify you. As any host does, Vercel keeps server logs of requests to the site, which are used only to keep it running and secure. We rely on our legitimate interest in running a secure site for this.
How long we keep it
We keep a record of what you ordered, where it went and what you paid because tax and accounting law require it. We keep these order and payment records for up to six years after the end of the financial year in which you ordered, and then delete them. Correspondence is kept for as long as we need it to deal with the matter it concerns.
Who handles your data
Stripe takes your payment and holds the details you enter at checkout, under its own privacy policy. Prodigi prints and posts your order and holds your delivery details to do that. Vercel hosts the site and counts visits. Resend carries the alert email if an order fails to reach the printer. We do not sell your details, and we share them with no one else unless the law requires it.
Where your data goes
Prodigi is in the UK. Stripe, Vercel and Resend are US companies, so some of your details may be stored or processed outside the UK. Where that happens it is under safeguards that UK data protection law recognises for transfers abroad, so your details keep the same protection. You can ask us for more detail about these safeguards.
Cookies and your basket
The site sets no cookies. Your basket, and whether you have closed the notice at the top of the page, are kept in your own browser's local storage. Nothing is sent to us until you check out, and you can clear it in your browser's settings. Stripe's checkout page, on stripe.com, sets its own cookies, which Stripe's privacy policy describes.
What we do not do
We send no marketing email and keep no mailing list. There are no customer accounts, so we hold no password or profile for you. We make no automated decisions about you and do no profiling.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law (the UK GDPR) you can ask us for a copy of the personal data we hold about you, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, ask us to restrict how we use it, object to our using it, and ask for it in a form you can take elsewhere. Email anne-marie@holdthehorizon.com and we will reply within a month. Where the law requires us to keep a record, such as an order in our accounts, we will explain if we cannot delete it yet.
Complaints
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, please tell us first so that we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office, at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
